You can wrap a bus in many different ways, both internally and externally. It does depend on what you want to achieve with your campaign. Listed below are the options available when it comes to advertising a brand on a bus.
Exterior Adverts: These areas are changed on a regular basis across thousands of busses in the UK. For example, when a new movie is launched, these boards can easily be switched out to promote that specific movie. These are the areas on either side of the bus which run along the window line and on occasion on the rear section. These boards can be designed and fitted by our team of experienced fitters.
Mega Rear: This is a full printed wrap on the rear section of a bus. With this being one of the key areas on the bus for advertisement, you will often find it’s more effective as a full print. With such a flat surface, it allows for plenty of information to be placed around the space.
Full Bus Wraps: You can wrap a full bus with your branding including the windows, often seen on airport buses. We have the ability to print on various vinyl in house with Contravision being one of them – a vinyl applied to windows which allows passengers to see out but the passing public cannot see in. The perfect way to advertise your brand with a big bold message on the outside for people to see from a far.
Internal Advertisements: A recent study by MTA stated that there was 1,680,060,402 UK bus passengers in 2018. An incredibly large number of people who will see the internal graphics on a bus. We have a proven process in place to help you apply advertisements to your buses. Having dedicated teams in each area to give you a smooth and stress free experience.
1 | Design
Our experienced in-house design team will arrange a meeting to gain information on the type of marketing being applied to the bus. We will then discuss what is achievable, bearing in mind your budget. We can create a Photoshop visual showing what your bus could potentially look like. Once the design is finalised, it is then sent to our production team.
2 | Production
Our in-house production team will take your final design and begin to print/ cut the vinyl utilising our state of the art equipment. With industry leading print quality thanks to our Epson SureColor SC-280600, you can have the confidence that you will receive the cleanest print to date.
3 | Application
Our vehicle wrapping team will then begin to prep your bus, giving it a wash removing any dirt or debris to allow for easy application. The vinyl is lined up using laser alignment to ensure all text/ graphics are straight. Once we are happy everything has lined up and is correct to the visual, the team begin to apply the vinyl to the bus.
4 | Final Touches
The bus is then checked round to ensure the design is correct to the visual / fitting quality is up to standard. If any issues do arise, we will re-print and amend as necessary. Once our workshop or off-site manager is happy it’s ready to get back on the road.

BBC | Bus Wrap
The BBC is one of the most well recognised British brands worldwide, dominating large parts of the media market. As expected, they advertise through various different mediums, everything from TV adverts to billboards. They also utilise bus advertising, through companies such as First Bus, one of Britain’s largest bus operators, who run around a fifth of all local bus services outside London and are based in West Yorkshire.

Brief
LW Graphics were commissioned to apply wraps to the exterior of the bus, to allow it to promote the BBC sounds app whilst it was on route.

Process
For this, we applied a vibrant wrap ensuring the design stood out from the city crowds. The BBC logo was added, alongside bold typography to catch the eye of passers-by.

Results
The result is a bus that is set to promote the BBC Sounds app as it travels all around the West Yorkshire area, an extremely valuable promotion tool for the BBC.

First Group | Bus Wrap
LW Graphics are proud to be working with First Group, one of Britain’s largest bus operators, who run around a fifth of all local bus services outside London and are based in West Yorkshire.

Brief
LW was commissioned with managing a customer communication project, which involved taking charge of a huge fleet of over 600 buses all based within the West Yorkshire area. This fleet required internal wrapping, allowing First Buses brand new app to be marketed effectively to bus users, in a clear and vibrant manor.

To complete this task, LW had to employ a large range of different techniques, from our industry leading in house printing services to our expert fitting team.

All in all, this project led to LW delivering over 10,000m of the highest quality print, all in line with First Buses strict time scheme.

Sentinel | Bus Wrap
We are proud to be working with Sentinel who provide secure car parking and shuttle services to customers at Leeds Bradford airport, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Brief
We were tasked with performing vehicle wraps for Sentinels full fleet of vehicles. Bringing forward the Sentinel colourway and branding to the full fleet of vehicles.

Process
The process begins by art working up the design on an outline. Once approved, our production team print and cut the vinyls ready for our vehicle wrapping team to apply onto the busses. This was completed in our workshop which is purpose build to hold the larger double decker busses.

Results
The result? A fleet of vehicles that are undeniably Sentinel. Recognisable through the day with vibrant strong colours and during the night with use of reflective vinyl that illuminates the Sentinel text/ shield.

Buses are exposed to all weather conditions therefore having a vinyl which is robust and durable is key both internally and externally. We therefore chose to only use the very best in the industry, vinyl brands such as 3M, Arlon, Metamark and Avery Dennison. For windows we will use Contravision. This gives you the confidence that when we conduct the work, it will remain strong and secure.

How much does it cost to wrap a bus?
This can vary depending on the size of the bus. For example a mini bus can start from £1,995 + VAT or a double decker can start from £4,500 + VAT. The two factors considered when costing up a bus wrap is material usage and time taken to apply the vinyl.

How to wrap a bus?
There are different methods to suit the application of internal graphics as opposed to external. For external fitting our team have the training and experience to build a scaffold around the bus ensuring we can reach all areas of the bus. Each surface is prepped and cleaned to allow the vinyl to stick securely. Internally, each surface is cleaned with septic solutions of which then the vinyl is applied too. The majority of the time, our fitters will apply graphics at Depots, so need to ensure the application temperature in above 4 degrees depending on the vinyl chosen.

How long does it take to wrap a bus?
The time to wrap a bus depends on the size and complexity of the surfaces. On average, a full exterior bus wrap can take between 32 – 40 hours over a period of 2 – 3 days.

Can I remove vinyl without damaging the paint?
The simple answer is yes however, it does depend on how the vinyl has been applied, the length of time the vinyl has been on the bus and how it has been looked after. Depending on these factors will determine if when you pull the vinyl off, the surface beneath is how it was before the vinyl application.
